Research articles or manuscripts submitted to AKYAS are initially reviewed by the editors to assess their overall suitability with the focus and scope of AKYAS, as well as the quality of writing. Only manuscripts that meet the journal’s focus and scope will be forwarded to reviewers for a double-blind peer review process. The review process typically takes 4–6 months.

Two reviewers are assigned to evaluate each manuscript based on their respective areas of expertise. Reviewers are expected to return their evaluations within four weeks. A third reviewer will be appointed if there is a disagreement between the two reviewers regarding the suitability of the manuscript for publication.

Assigned reviewers evaluate the manuscript using a standard manuscript evaluation form and are required to maintain the confidentiality of all information contained in the manuscript. The reviewers’ recommendations serve as guidance for the AKYAS editors in making the final decision. However, the final decision always rests with the editors of AKYAS.

Manuscripts deemed unsuitable by the editors during the initial screening will be rejected without external review.

Based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the editors may reach one of the following decisions:

• Accept as is (without any revisions)

• Accept with minor revisions (no second round of review required)

• Accept with major revisions (a second round of review will be required)

• Reject (the manuscript is not suitable for publication)
