Plagiarism Policy

All manuscripts submitted to AKYAS: Multidisciplinary Research Journal are screened using plagiarism detection software (Turnitin). The journal will immediately reject manuscripts found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism.

AKYAS is committed to ensuring that all authors adhere to international standards of academic integrity, particularly concerning plagiarism.

Plagiarism occurs when an author uses ideas, information, or words from another source without proper acknowledgment. Even when unintentional, plagiarism constitutes a serious academic offense and is unacceptable in international scholarly publishing.

Use of Ideas and Citations

  1. Use of Ideas
    When authors adopt ideas from other scholars—whether related to data interpretation, methodology, conclusions, field developments, or general information—the original source must be cited.
    Even if the idea is further developed, the original source must still be acknowledged before elaborating on it.

  2. Use of Words
    When authors reproduce words from another source:

    • Proper citation is required

    • Quotation marks must be used for four or more consecutive identical words

    • Citation alone is insufficient for directly copied text

General Policy

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere.

  • Any verbatim material must be clearly distinguished by:

    1. Indentation,

    2. Quotation marks, and

    3. Proper source identification.

  • Text exceeding fair use standards (defined here as more than two or three sentences or equivalent) or any reproduced graphical material requires:

    • Written permission from the copyright holder,

    • Where possible, permission from the original author, and

    • Clear acknowledgment of the source.

Levels of Plagiarism and Actions

If plagiarism is identified, the Editor-in-Chief will determine appropriate action based on the severity:

1. Minor Plagiarism
A small portion of another article is copied without significant data or ideas.
Action: Warning issued and author required to revise and properly cite the source.

2. Moderate Plagiarism
A significant portion of the manuscript is copied without proper citation.
Action: Manuscript rejected and author prohibited from submitting for one year.

3. Severe Plagiarism
Most of the manuscript is plagiarized, including reproduction of original results or ideas.
Action: Manuscript rejected and author prohibited from submitting for five years.

AKYAS upholds strict academic integrity standards and reserves the right to withdraw acceptance of any manuscript found to violate these policies.
